I lied. When I said that Chez Panisse’s almond cake garnered the most compliments of any dessert I’d made, I hadn’t yet baked these cookies. I brought trays of these to Thanksgiving celebrations and people. flipped. out. Reactions ranged from gushing praise to desperate recipe requests to straight-up hoarding.
I’d seen this wonderful cookie floating ’round the ‘net for some time, but didn’t make it for fear of its intensity — in both the caloric and flavoric (?) sense. I mean, just look at the ingredient list. Three types of chocolate. Three types of sugar. Browned butter. Sea salt. Nutella. Dangerous. Delicious.
Do not make this if you’re on a diet. Do make this cookie if you’re looking for a showstopper of a holiday cookie.
